Agni is the only agency in India to have ventured in to this relatively new field and has accumulated a wealth of experience. The first Cloud Seeding project was undertaken in India for the Government of the State of Karnataka in the year 2003. This was followed in the same year with similar projects for the Governments of the States of Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The projects were undertaken with three suitably modified aircraft and were supported by weather radars from two different locations. In the year 2004, Cloud Seeding projects were undertaken again in Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, employing five aircraft and four weather radars.

Cloud Seeding Projects in the years 2003 and 2004 were undertaken in partnership with the largest Cloud Seeding Company in the world, Weather Modification Inc of the USA.

For the year 2005, Agni has embarked on Cloud Seeding projects on its own commencing with the State of Andhra Pradesh. The Company has procured four appropriately modified aircraft and two Weather Radars from abroad. Locally available specialist manpower has been augmented by a few from the global market.
